Always believe in your dreams - My favorites in Brazil

George Russell's first win came in one of the most iconic weekends of the Formula 1 season: Interlagos always delivered great races with crazy twists and turns, but this year's race was on another level.

"Follow your dreams": what we've been told since we're kids, what becomes emblematic when we grow up. Everyone dreams, few people actually work for it, only the bravest ones make it come true. Dreaming is the easiest thing to do: everyone is able to do it, some more concretely, some more superficially.
What isn't easy is to understand how to make that particular dream come true, what to do to make it our everyday reality and not anymore just a temporary one. Pursuing your dream is exhausting: it's tiring, it takes your breath away and demands a lot of strength. Everyone dreams, only a few actually start to work hard for it. No one ever thinks about the sacrifices that need to be made: it's common to think that someone will come and help, that luck will make things easier. That's not true. Our dreams are just the projection of what we could become only with hard work.
Who's brave enough to challenge oneself, sacrificing what could seem essential from the outside and working hard makes their dream come true. Who doesn't stop believing in it, no matter how challenging and demoralizing it was, no matter what people said or thought about it, is the one who succeeds on its own. George Russell is the living proof of it.

He was already a little karting champion: he used to study tracks atypically, with those big blue eyes that always stood out, telling his story with just one look. After jumping in single seaters he won everything that he could win, leaving nothing to his opponents and catching Toto Wolff and Mercedes' attention. George Russell's future seemed already written: F1 should've started to prepare for the brightest star's debut.
Little George debuted in F1 with Williams and already couldn't believe his eyes: all those sacrifices were worth it and he was one step closer to realizing his dream. His first year in Formula 1 flew pretty fast, but Russell wasn't able to take home much, as his car had plenty of issues. The same thing happens during his second season, until the opportunity of a lifetime arrives: Lewis Hamilton couldn't race in Bahrain and George Russell had to replace him in his Mercedes.
George touches his dream, almost winning that Grand Prix, feeling almost like a champion, but a mistake during the pit stop made everything in vain. Yet another disappointment: George gets emotional at the end of that race, because that's what getting so close to everything someone has ever wished for feels like. His third season in F1 sees him still in a car that's too tight for his dreams and for his talent: he doesn't fit everything in that Williams. Then he magically qualifies third, brings home his first points and makes everyone notice what he could do if only he had a better car, getting again emotional and crying in front of the media pen.
He cries while telling how happy he feels but at the same time how much he would like to have the same chances as the "others": Leclerc, Verstappen, Norris, his career mates, whom he used to race with in karting. The ones who he was used to battle with, the ones who had better chances with better cars. Only George was missing.

Then Mercedes offered him their 2022 seat and George finally had that chance: podiums, battles, the first pole position and finally, in Brazil, the first win. George Russell is the perfect example of someone who believed in his dreams despite having whole world against him.
From the last spot on the grid, to the highest step of the podium, with tears bursting down his face and a smile that could light up the whole paddock. Tight, not in his cockpit that doesn't let his talent come out, but in his teammate Lewis Hamilton's arms, proud of him as a dad, having been his faithful mentor during this season.

Never stop believing in your dreams, even when everything tells you the opposite, even when the others manage to make it come true before you, even when you're the only one believing in it. George never stopped doing it, with high aims and lots of work every day of his life, to make that little kid with huge blue eyes in karting happy and proud.
Dear George, you finally did it. You danced with the big ones, you challenged every single step and you got back up every time you failed like only a few could. I always knew your moment would've come and now, that you tasted that victory feeling, keep it close to your heart and never let it go. Make it the first of many.
Always believe in your dreams.
