Last time Gillian raced a Formula Regional car was in December 2020, in Vallelunga during the last round of the season, but it was the beginning of an uncertain future for the young French driver’s career. During the last lap, Gillian was sad and disappointed, he knew that the risk of never getting back on track was there and it was high. His career was in jeopardy: the lack of sponsors and the high cost of a season in a top team had forced him, and his team, to leave the racing world.

"Perhaps the solution to continue is to use 2021 to find budget so that Gillian can have a great season in 2022"
Samuel, the father of the young driver, at the end of the 2020 season.
And so they did it: in 2022 Henrion is ready to return, this time in a different car. This season he is competing in the Ligier European Series with a Spanish team. The 2021 break was not in vain: Gillian is back on track. Now the main goal is to win the championship to use the prize to move to a higher category.
But before talking about his return to Formula Regional in 2022, even if it will only be for one race, let’s review the highlights of his 2020 season, even if that championship is so far from what it has become today. The Frenchman’s car in 2020 was entirely managed in a “Family" team: a truck to transport the car, a gazebo, a couple of mechanics and the unmissable dad Samuel, this was enough to make the team work. Probably the highest moment of his 2020 season was Race 2 at Mugello where, after an unlucky Q2 and the broken gearbox, Gillian ended the race in fourth place. Maybe we might all remember the pitstop of that race for the #33 car: a gesture full of fairness and sportiness by the DR Formula by RP Motorsport team that lent two of its mechanics to the Gillian Track Events team, thus allowing Henrion to have a pitstop in line with his rival’s one.
It’s now time for Formula Regional European Championship to return after the summer break, on September 9th. The championship will start again in Red Bull Ring, here we will have the opportunity to see the young French driver back in this category. Gillian will replace the Swiss driver Axel Gnos who, after a back injury caused by an accident during free practice in Spa, prefers not to take part in the race to get back in shape for Barcelona, the home race for G4 Racing. Then Henrion will jump again on a Formula Regional with G4 Racing team, the words of the technical and sports director Adrián Munoz about it:
“I would like to welcome Gillian to G4 Racing. [..] Gillian will help us by driving the #7 car. I am sure he will showcase his talent and a do good job”.
Henrion is very happy to return to this category and he can’t wait to try to get the best possible results. He describes having the chance to drive a single-seater car again a privilege and intends to make the most out of this opportunity.
This year Gillian has won every race held to date in the Ligier Championship, including the victory at Le Mans, during the 24-hour weekend.

It will certainly be very interesting to see what he will be able to do at Red Bull Ring on his return to Formula Regional.
